State Representative David Livingston, who chairs the House Appropriations Committee, announced the committee’s approval of two resolutions affirming Israel’s sovereignty over Judea and Samaria. The approved resolutions are House Resolution 2002 and House Concurrent Resolution 2047. These legislative measures emphasize the historical, biblical, and legal legitimacy of Judea and Samaria while rejecting the term “West Bank,” which was used during Jordan’s occupation from 1948 to 1967.
The resolutions have passed through the committee and are expected to be discussed on the House floor next week. HR 2002 requires approval by the Arizona House of Representatives, while HCR 2047 would proceed to the Arizona Senate if passed by the House.
Livingston said, “Government should not adopt language created to erase history,” emphasizing that Judea and Samaria are vital to Jewish history and identity. He added that Arizona should use precise language without succumbing to political pressure or revisionism.
The resolutions also highlight Judea and Samaria’s significance for Israel’s security and U.S. interests in preventing terrorist control in the region. Livingston remarked on his responsibility as chairman, stating that these resolutions confirm Israel’s right to self-defense and Arizona’s stance against historical revisionism.
