The City of Glendale has appointed Ryan Lee as the new Director of Transportation. Lee, who previously served as Glendale’s Director of Government Relations, will now oversee the city’s transportation department. His responsibilities include managing Glendale’s airport, transit services, and pavement management program. Additionally, he will direct traffic signals, road signs, street striping activities, and strategic planning in traffic engineering.
Glendale City Manager Kevin Phelps stated, “Ryan Lee is a proven leader in Glendale and has worked alongside our transportation staff in every area of transit and transportation. He understands the vital connection between transportation and successful economic development strategies.”
Lee has been part of Glendale’s transportation strategies for over ten years across various government levels. His efforts have helped secure $151 million for the city’s transportation department from Proposition 479 Regional Transportation Sales Tax. He is known for his collaborative approach with residents and elected bodies to address issues and identify opportunities.
“I am excited to join an incredible group of transportation leaders who are widely recognized as top experts in their fields,” said Lee. “The Glendale City Council has made transportation infrastructure and the safety of our residents a top priority.”
Lee holds a master’s degree in public administration from Arizona State University and a bachelor’s degree in political science from Northern Arizona University.
