On July 25, Hamadeh’s office shared an update on one bill’s progress: “A victory for our veterans, Congressman Hamadeh’s Health Professionals Scholarship Program Improvement Act, which addresses staffing shortages within the Veterans Health Administration & increases accountability in the HPSP program, passed @HouseVetAffairs https://t.co/2vOIfUTFTS https://t.co/37Q1lwMJQj”.
The Edith Nourse Rogers STEM Scholarship Opportunity Act is designed to expand scholarship opportunities for student veterans pursuing degrees in science, technology, engineering or mathematics fields. The Health Professional Scholarship Program Improvements Act aims to address ongoing staff shortages at Veterans Health Administration facilities and strengthen oversight within its scholarship program for health professionals.
Both measures reflect ongoing legislative efforts to support veterans’ education and healthcare needs by improving access to scholarships and addressing workforce gaps within federal agencies serving former service members.
