The Office of Congressman Abe Hamadeh published a series of statements on July 15, 2025, criticizing Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell’s performance and calling for changes in the institution’s leadership and approach to monetary policy.
In a post from the early morning, Congressman Hamadeh argued that Chairman Powell’s handling of interest rates, tariffs, and renovations at the Federal Reserve building constitute grounds for removal. He stated: “Between his failure to lower interest rates, his complete misreading of the tariff situation, and the absolute boondoggle he has going on with the renovations at the Federal Reserve building, Chairman Powell could be fired for cause at this point. Congressman Hamadeh is calling” (posted July 15, 2025).
Later that day, Hamadeh commented on broader monetary policy issues at the Federal Reserve. In an additional statement posted in the evening, Hamadeh focused again on Powell’s leadership style. He wrote: “We have a Fed Chairman in Powell, who is stifling the growth that we desperately need as Americans, and that can’t continue. We need a Federal Reserve chairman who understands this moment that we are entering. Whether it comes from outside or inside the administration,” (posted July 15, 2025).
Congressman Abe Hamadeh represents Arizona’s 8th Congressional District and is known for his vocal positions on fiscal policy matters.
