On Wednesday, Congressman Abraham Hamadeh announced that the U.S. Department of Justice has dismissed a report on the Phoenix Police Department. The report was part of an investigation initiated by the Biden Administration.
“Promise made. Promise kept,” said Congressman Hamadeh. He emphasized his commitment to ending what he describes as the “weaponization” of the judicial system and working with President Trump’s Department of Justice to address issues stemming from previous administration policies.
Hamadeh met with Assistant Attorney General for Civil Rights Harmeet Dhillon and FBI Director Kash Patel to discuss these concerns. He expressed gratitude towards President Trump for addressing what he sees as unjust oversight of local law enforcement agencies.
“I am grateful to President Trump and his team… who run to the sound of danger to keep our communities safe and secure,” said Hamadeh.
The congressman criticized the process, stating that local officers cooperated fully but were faced with inaccuracies in the final report. “The Trump Administration has now shown that it will not tolerate attacks on our law enforcement officers,” he added.
Assistant Attorney General Harmeet K. Dhillon remarked on ending certain practices by saying, “Today, we are ending the Biden Civil Rights Division’s failed experiment.”
Local police associations expressed their appreciation for Hamadeh’s efforts. Ben Leuschner, President of the Phoenix Police Sergeants and Lieutenants Association (PPSLA), thanked him for fulfilling his promise and noted support from both President Trump and Congressman Hamadeh against what they view as a flawed investigation.
Paul Sheldon, President of the Arizona Fraternal Order of Police, also extended thanks to Congressman Hamadeh for his consistent support and expressed eagerness to continue working together toward community safety goals.
