Debbie Lesko, a U.S. Congresswoman representing Arizona’s 8th District since 2018, shared her experiences and views on recent local events through a series of posts on her social media account.
On July 16, 2025, Lesko posted about her visit to a voting center in Avondale during the Congressional District 7 special election. She wrote, “I enjoyed being out at a voting center in Avondale for today’s Congressional District 7 special election. We have such a privilege as Americans to select our leaders at all levels of government. I hope we do not take this privilege for granted!”
Later that day, she observed operations at another polling location and expressed appreciation for voters and poll workers. On July 16, she stated, “I had the opportunity to watch the process for voters at the downtown MCTEC center for today’s Congressional District 7 special election. Thank you to everyone who took time out of their day to vote – and to the men and women staffing all the voting locations in Maricopa County!”
On July 17, Lesko addressed federal oversight of the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office after attending an event with supporters. She wrote, “It was great to see many supporters of the Maricopa County Sheriff’s office last night, where I asked the federal judge & monitor to end the monitoring of the office. After 18 years, 4 Sheriffs, & $300 Million on federal bureaucracy & red tape, it’s time to stop the madness!”
Lesko has been active in Arizona politics since serving in the state House from 2009 to 2015 and in the state Senate from 2015 until her election to Congress in 2018. Born in Sheboygan, Wisconsin in 1958 and currently residing in Peoria at age 64, Lesko holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Wisconsin–Madison.
