The Glendale Union High School District Governing Board honored retiring employees during its annual Retirement Recognition Reception on May 8. The event brought together retirees, their families, district leaders, and staff to celebrate the years of service given by these employees across GUHSD schools and programs.
The reception recognized the important role that dedicated staff play in supporting students and building strong school communities throughout the district. Superintendent Matt Belden opened the evening with welcoming remarks, thanking retirees for their commitment to education and for making a difference in the lives of students, families, and the broader community.
Principals and administrators introduced each retiree individually, sharing reflections on their professional contributions within classrooms, offices, athletics programs, operations departments, counseling services, and student support roles. Retirees were acknowledged not only for their dedication but also for providing mentorship and leadership to both students and colleagues over many years.
Governing Board President Natalie Veidmark delivered closing remarks that concluded the event by honoring this year’s group of retiring employees. The ceremony highlighted traditions established throughout GUHSD’s history as well as lasting memories created through years of service.
