Congressman Abraham Hamadeh has put forward a proposal in the U.S. House of Representatives to rename a Phoenix postal facility after Officer Zane T. Coolidge. The United States Postal Service location at 12208 North 19th Avenue would be designated as the “Officer Zane T. Coolidge Post Office.”
The bill is supported by several representatives, including Andy Biggs, Juan Ciscomani, Eli Crane, Yassamin Ansari, Greg Stanton, Paul Gosar, and David Schweikert.
Officer Coolidge died on September 6, 2024, while responding to a larceny call when he was shot. The suspect involved had multiple felony convictions and was on parole at the time of the incident.
“Officer Coolidge was a husband, brother, son and father who died a hero. A true public servant, he sacrificed his life to fulfill his duty to protect and serve,” stated Congressman Hamadeh. “Naming this facility in honor of Officer Coolidge is a small token of the tremendous appreciation we have for him and the countless men and women, who have given our communities their last full measure of devotion.”
The legislation aims to honor Officer Coolidge’s service and sacrifice while acknowledging his ties to Phoenix and his contributions to the community.
