Jake Hoffman, a Republican member of the Arizona State Senate representing the 15th District since 2023, posted several statements on his social media account on August 28, 2025. The tweets addressed topics ranging from education policy to gun control and online discourse.
In a post published at 03:45 UTC, Hoffman praised Clark Rimsza and families involved in Arizona’s Empowerment Scholarship Accounts (ESA) program. He wrote, “Great work, @ClarkRimsza! ESAs are the MOST ACCOUNTABLE government function in Arizona. 99.9% of ESA transactions are compliant with the law. Not another government function in Arizona, maybe the country, could claim that level of success. Great job ESA families!”
Later that day at 18:37 UTC, Hoffman commented on gun control debates by stating, ” GUNS ARE NOT THE PROBLEM Blaming guns is like blaming your pen/pencil for spelling errors. Anyone who tries to tell you that guns are the problem is lying to you. The actual problem? – Mental illness – Loss of truth – Moral relativism – Marxism – Postmodernism WATCH “
At 22:12 UTC on the same day, Hoffman criticized certain online commentators with another post: “Leftist trolls are literally so dumb ‘tHeY aReNt aN iNtErNaTiOnAl oRg'”
Hoffman’s remarks come as he continues his tenure in the Arizona State Senate after being elected in 2023 to succeed Nancy K. Barto as representative for District 15.
