Life Care Center of North Glendale secured its position as the third largest nursing home in Maricopa County during the first quarter of 2026, data from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) shows.
The facility offered 223 beds, which is 105 more than the average for Maricopa County nursing homes at the start of 2026. The center cared for an average of 115.3 residents each day during the quarter.
The CMS awarded Life Care Center of North Glendale a perfect 5 out of 5 overall rating, topping Arizona’s nursing home average rating of 3.4.
Immanuel Campus of Care led as Maricopa County’s largest nursing home for the quarter with 228 beds, while Providence Place at Glencroft held the second spot at 225 beds.
Life Care Center of North Glendale reported no fines or penalties during the first quarter of 2026.
As of Q1 2026, Maricopa County was home to 68 for-profit nursing homes.
Estimates from the U.S. Census Bureau indicate the nation’s population of older adults is increasing as the younger population declines. Between 2020 and 2024, Americans age 65 and older grew by 13%, while those under 18 decreased by 1.7%. The older adult demographic has expanded significantly in the past century, rising from 4.9 million in 1920 to over 61 million by 2024.
A 2021 study estimates that close to half of Americans age 65 and older, about 28 million people, may ultimately require long-term services and supports, with more than a third potentially needing nursing home care.
“Living a long life is something that many of us want and could get,” said Jesse Slome, executive director of the American Association for Long-Term Care Insurance, an educational insurance group. “But when we live a long life, the chances of us needing long-term care increase exponentially. But when you need that type of care, there are limited options.”
