The Office of Congressman Abe Hamadeh used its official Twitter account on February 25, 2026, to address national security concerns and ongoing government operations, echoing recent statements by the President and calling for legislative action.
In a post published at 03:05 UTC, the office stated: “.@POTUS is right. Every second that DHS is shut down, even partially, puts American lives in danger. It’s time to end this tantrum, come to the table, and open it back up.”
Shortly after, at 03:07 UTC, the account commented on a call from the President regarding national priorities: “The President asked that anyone who agrees with this sentiment, ‘The first duty of the US government is to protect its American citizens, not illegal aliens,’ stand up. You’re damn right, Congressman Hamadeh got to his feet.”
Later that morning at 03:10 UTC, the office highlighted concerns over election security and urged legislative progress: “Election Integrity = National Security. It’s time for @SenateGOP to act: Stop the delays, prioritize real safeguards for our elections, and PASS the SAVE America Act NOW.”
Abraham Hamadeh was elected in 2024 after defeating Gregory Whitten in the general election with 56.5% of the vote compared to Whitten’s 43.5%. The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has previously faced partial shutdowns due to budgetary disagreements between Congress and other branches of government.
