In a series of tweets, the Office of Congressman Abe Hamadeh raised several questions directed at military officials concerning U.S. foreign policy and military operations. These inquiries reflect concerns about the allocation of resources and strategic positioning in regions experiencing geopolitical tensions.
On June 10, 2025, Congressman Hamadeh addressed General Kurilla with a set of questions regarding Syria. He asked whether the “train-and-equip fund should be expanded to include Syria’s forces” and expressed concern about the integration of foreign fighters into the Syrian armed forces. The congressman sought clarification on whether such integration is currently happening.
Later that day, Congressman Hamadeh posed further questions to General Kurilla about U.S. support for Iraq. He questioned “Why is America subsidizing Iraq when it is withholding public salaries and military equipment from our Kurdish allies in northern Iraq?” Additionally, he inquired if Iran’s influence within Iraq is increasing despite recent setbacks faced by Iran.
Finally, Congressman Hamadeh turned his attention to General Michael Langley, USMC Commander of U.S. Africa Command (AFRICOM). He asked whether there are any plans to “move the headquarters of AFRICOM from Germany to an African partner country like Morocco.”
General Michael Langley serves as the Commander of U.S. Africa Command (AFRICOM), which oversees U.S. military operations across Africa.
