Arizona State Senator Analise Ortiz has announced her intention to inform her community about the presence of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) in the area. This decision follows a post on X accusing her of obstructing federal authorities. Ortiz communicated her stance through a post on X.
“Yep. When ICE is around, I will alert my community to stay out of the area, and I’m not fucking scared of you nor Trump’s masked goons,” said Ortiz, Arizona State Senator from 24th District (D).
Ortiz’s response was directed at a post by Libs of TikTok, which said: “Arizona State Senator Analise Ortiz (D) is actively impeding and doxxing ICE by posting their live locations on Instagram. Charge her.”
In reaction to Ortiz’s actions, Arizona Senate President Warren Petersen issued a press release expressing concern. “The comments made by Senator Ortiz are deeply troubling and do not reflect the position of the Arizona State Senate,” Petersen said. He added that he had spoken with the U.S. Attorney for the District of Arizona and referred the matter for investigation, suggesting that Ortiz might be violating federal law. Petersen emphasized that Arizona Senate Republicans support ICE and its efforts to enforce immigration laws and protect communities.
According to ICE’s website, enforcement actions have been ongoing at various locations in Arizona. The Phoenix field office focuses on identifying, arresting, detaining, and removing noncitizens subject to removal under U.S. law, prioritizing those who pose public safety, border security, or national security risks as well as individuals with final removal orders. For instance, an operation conducted on April 8 in Phoenix led to several arrests of individuals with criminal records.
Ortiz has served as a state senator since 2025 after previously holding a position in the Arizona House of Representatives from the 24th district between 2023 and 2025. Before her legislative roles, she worked as a communications manager at Rural Arizona Engagement/Rural Arizona Action from 2021 to 2024.
