City of Surprise issued the following announcement on May 29
The Arizona Department of Transportation has released the following information regarding upcoming closures on the Loop 303:
Several improvement projects will require closures or lane restrictions along Phoenix-area freeways this weekend (May 29-June 1), according to the Arizona Department of Transportation. Drivers should allow extra travel time and consider alternate routes while the following weekend restrictions are in place:
- Northbound Loop 303 closed between Waddell and Greenway roads from 10 p.m. Friday to noon Saturday (May 30) for installation of electronic message sign and traffic flow sensors as part of freeway technology project. DETOUR: Traffic can exit to eastbound Waddell Road and use northbound Reems Road and westbound Greenway Road to reach northbound Loop 303.
- Southbound Loop 303 closed between Cactus Road and Peoria Avenue from 10 p.m. Saturday to noon Sunday (May 31) for installation of electronic message sign and traffic flow sensors. DETOUR: Traffic can exit to westbound Cactus Road and use southbound Cotton Lane and westbound Peoria Avenue to reach southbound Loop 303.
ADOT plans and constructs new freeways, additional lanes and other improvements in the Phoenix area as part of the Regional Transportation Plan for the Maricopa County region. The primary funding source for regional freeway improvements is a half-cent sales tax approved by county voters in 2004.
Real-time highway conditions are available on ADOT’s Arizona Traveler Information site at az511.gov, by calling 511 and through ADOT’s Twitter feed, @ArizonaDOT.
