A Phoenix area suburb of about 87,000 people has allowed temporary tent and outdoor dining.

The City of Goodyear’s Economic Development entity said on its website outdoor dining expansions and/or covered dining installations for local restaurants and cafes is permissible under Mayor Georgia Lord’s COVID-19 Declaration of Emergency that was originally signed last March 19.

Eateries, however, are required to have permits. Applications have been accepted since Oct. 12.

City officials will take up to two days to review the electronically submitted applications. Once they acquire a permit, owners and operators must comply with the city’s temporary tent/outdoor dining policy.

The program will end when the emergency declaration has been lifted.

Those with additional questions or looking for assistance can contact the Engineering and Development Services Department by emailing eprtechsupport@goodyearaz.gov or calling 623-932-3004.

Hours of business are Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
