The Sundial Silver Stones Club's latest Featured Artist is long-time member, Dick Feil

The Sundial Silver Stones Club's latest Featured Artist is long-time member, Dick Feil.  Originally from Kenosha, Wisconsin, Dick has lived in Sun City for 15 years and has been a Silver Stone’s member for 7 years - for many of those years, he served as the club president. Dick stays busy with golf, exercise, and swimming when he is not pursuing his artistic interests which include lapidary, lost wax/metal casting, silversmithing, and chaining. Dick took several classes at Sundial to enrich his talents, including a glass fusion class taught by Roxi and a lapidary class taught by Dan Foust. He added that he learned chaining and silversmithing from many of the talented artists at the club.

When asked about the types of creations he likes the most, Dick mentioned bracelets, necklaces, and pendants. He stated that his favorite is “chain bracelets because it’s very relaxing work.”  His response to a query about sources for inspiration was an all-inclusive “from people, places and things.” A man of few words, when Dick was asked how his creative hobby makes him feel, he simply stated, “relaxed.”  For a second question about what he gets personally from a finished piece, he supplied an equally concise response, “pride.”

You can see samples of Dick’s work at Sundial Recreation Center, 14801 N. 103rd Ave. It is an an all-in-one club so you can work across the crafts in the same location. Offered classes are in lapidary, silver work, lost wax casting, fused glass, chaining, and wire wrap. There are many friendly, helpful club members and teachers who will help bring the artist out in you!

Silver Stones Club membership costs just $15/year. If needed, lockers are available for $3 each and you are provided with the opportunity to take classes for as little as $10 to $50 plus materials at club cost. Tools and equipment are provided by the club.
