If you want your child to attend one of the three C's—Cherokee Elementary School, Cocopah Middle School, or Chaparral High School—you need to find a home in that district before July 3. This is because it typically takes a month to close on a house after an offer has been accepted.

Moving to the district is the most reliable way to ensure your child gets into the school of your choice. These schools are highly sought after, making it very difficult to gain access through open enrollment.

The boundaries for Cherokee Elementary School are Shea Blvd to the north, Scottsdale Rd. to the east, Mockingbird Lane/Northern Ave. to the south, and 40th St. to the west. Living in this area also means your child will be enrolled in Cocopah Middle School and Chaparral High School when appropriate.

Cherokee Elementary School is ranked #4 among Arizona elementary schools by U.S. News and World Report. The student/teacher ratio is 18:1, with math proficiency at 86% and reading proficiency at 87%. It was awarded a National Blue Ribbon School badge from the U.S. Department of Education in 2022 and is recognized by the Arizona Education Foundation as an A+ School of Excellence. Students consistently score among the top 10% in the state and have access to various extracurricular activities including chess, coding, dance, art, robotics, and choir.

Cocopah Middle School ranks #2 among Scottsdale middle schools according to U.S. News and World Report. The student/teacher ratio is 21:1 with both math and reading proficiencies at 63%, which are above state averages according to GreatSchools.org.

Chaparral High School holds the #2 rank among Scottsdale high schools per U.S. News and World Report. It has a student/teacher ratio of 21:1 with math proficiency at 59% and reading proficiency at 72%, both above state averages. Over half of its students participate in Advanced Placement coursework and exams.
