Arizona has resources to help support renters.
For many renters, it is due on the first of the month. However, due to circumstances caused by the COVID-19, many locals may find they need assistance.
Record-breaking numbers of Arizona residents are applying for unemployment, according to AZ Central. There is a $5 million rental assistance fund available to those in need.
Housing advocates advise that renters first contact their mortgage lenders, landlords or leasing offices and let them be aware of the situation.
Gov. Doug Ducey took action recently to help prevent renters and families from being on the streets. There is a 120-delay for evictions for renters who fit certain conditions. According to Ducey’s order, in order to qualify, the renter must contact their landlord in writing with the proper documentation.

Landlords are offered incentives by the federal government on their mortgages for not evicting tenants. Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac are offering multi family apartment owners a reprieve if they can’t afford monthly payments.
