The ability to quickly adapt to the evolving environment will be a key component to the East Valley and Arizona economy bouncing back from COVID-19.

“What’s going to happen in the future is all things are going to accelerate – technological change, economic change, social change, cultural change, biological change,” Arizona State University President Michael Crow said at a recent PHX East Valley Partnership meeting, as reported by Gilbert Sun News. “They’re all going to be accelerated. What that means, then, is that if you want to win economically, if you want to be competitive going forward, your agility is going to be really, really important.”

Crow said being agile will present great economic opportunities such as students at ASU making personal protective equipment through the creation of a 3D printer network.

“If you can do that, then you could build a completely distributed manufacturing network across the entirety of Arizona,” Crow told PHX East Valley Partnership meeting attendees.
