Glendale Community College issued the following announcement on Mar. 11.

Each year, the Maricopa Community Colleges sponsor a districtwide competition to encourage and recognize student achievement in the following categories:

• Composition
• Instrumental
• Vocal

The winning students for 2021-22 have been announced. Congratulations to the following students and their excellent showing – GCC won more awards than any other school in the district. See below for a list of students and the categories they competed and won in.

Instrumental Solo

     2nd Place - Christopher Scrivens, trumpet GCC

     3rd Place - Brian Almanza, clarinet GCC

     2nd Place - Dmitri Eldridge GCC

     1st Place - Alan Gomez Silva GCC

Chamber Ensemble

     1st Place - GCC Sax Ensemble (Ferralez, Sanchez, Schneidewind, Hernandez Ibanez, De La Cruz Evangelista, Woods, Wielgus, McIntosh)

     2nd Place - GCC Sax Quartet (Ferralez, Sanchez, De La Cruz Evangelista, McIntosh)

     3rd Place - GCC Guitar Duo (Flores, Phomsouvahn)

Classical Vocal-Treble

     1st Place - Amanda Albrecht GCC

Classical Vocal-TTB Solo

     3rd Place - Gabriel Marin GCC

Musical Theatre Vocal-Treble Solo

     2nd Place - Savannah Tluczek GCC

Congratulations to all the students on their winning performances, which will be featured at the Artist of Promise Showcase on April 21, 2022, at Paradise Valley Community College.
