WASHINGTON, D.C.—Two bills sponsored by Congresswoman Debbie Lesko (AZ-08) have advanced in the U.S. House Committee on Energy and Commerce. The bills, H.R. 6346 and H.R. 6192, have been approved and are now heading to the full House of Representatives for a vote.

One of the bills, H.R. 6346, known as the Advancing Nuclear Regulatory Oversight Act, aims to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) during the COVID-19 pandemic and beyond. The legislation requires the NRC to submit a congressional report that outlines any changes made to its processes or procedures during the pandemic and explains how the agency plans to enhance its efficiency in the future.

Congresswoman Lesko expressed her enthusiasm for the passage of these bills, stating, "I am thrilled that these two commonsense bills have passed out of committee. I am working every day to leave our state and nation in a better place than when we found it, and I look forward to working with my colleagues to ensure that these proposals are approved by the full House of Representatives."

The other bill, H.R. 6192, also known as the Hands Off Our Home Appliances Act, focuses on preventing the U.S. Department of Energy from imposing new or amended energy efficiency standards on products that are not technologically feasible and economically justified.

If passed, this legislation will protect consumers from unnecessary regulations and ensure that energy efficiency standards are based on practicality and affordability.

With these bills now heading to the Floor of the U.S. House of Representatives for a vote, Congresswoman Lesko remains hopeful that her proposals will be approved, further contributing to the betterment of the state and the nation.

The advancement of these bills in the Energy and Commerce Committee marks a significant step forward in Congresswoman Lesko's efforts to enact meaningful legislation that addresses crucial issues related to nuclear regulatory oversight and energy efficiency standards.
