Arizona House Speaker Steve Montenegro has announced that Tom Homan, the U.S. Border Czar under President Donald J. Trump's administration, will address a special joint session of the Arizona Legislature. The session is scheduled for Tuesday, April 8, 2025, at noon in the House Chamber at the State Capitol.

Homan was appointed to his current role in November 2024 and brings over three decades of border enforcement experience. He previously served as Acting Director of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) from 2017 to 2018. Known for his direct approach and zero-tolerance enforcement policies, Homan is leading efforts to restore order at the southern border and prioritize deportations that enhance public safety and national security.

Speaker Montenegro said, "Arizona is ground zero in the fight to secure our southern border and protect American communities. Tom Homan is a patriot who has dedicated his life to defending our nation’s sovereignty and keeping Americans safe." He added that Homan's leadership aligns with the House Republican Majority's plan to promote public safety and protect Arizonans' rights.

The address comes as Republicans in Arizona's Legislature hold stronger majorities with a mandate to act on issues like secure borders and community safety. Homan's remarks are expected to focus on current border challenges, federal-state cooperation, and reversing what he describes as chaos from the previous four years under the Biden-Harris administration.

The event will be available for public viewing via live stream at azleg.gov/liveproceedings.

Steve Montenegro serves as Speaker of the Arizona House of Representatives for Legislative District 29 in areas including Goodyear and Surprise.
