U.S. Congressional candidate Blake Masters (R-AZ-8) said President Joe Biden (D) and U.S. Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas “must be held accountable” for the border crisis.
Master’s remarks come after Mayorkas told NBC News’ Kristen Welker that the Biden Administration doesn’t “bear responsibility” for the crisis.
“Mayorkas has broken the oath he swore to uphold the Constitution,” Masters told NW Valley Times. “He and Biden have invited the third world to invade our country.”
“Their crimes are more than impeachable — they are treasonous,” said Masters. “They must be held accountable.”
Appearing on NBC’s “Meet the Press” this morning, Mayorkas said “we don’t bear responsibility for a broken system” and that “Congress is the only one who can fix it.”
President Biden, on January 20, 2021, his first day in office, signed a proclamation to terminate the “emergency with respect to the southern border” and end funding for the border wall construction that had begun under President Trump.
12,081 illegal aliens were apprehended from 48 separate countries in the U.S Border Patrol's Tucson Sector just last week, reported Tucson Standard.
There were also 23 human smuggling events, which makes 66 such events reported during the past three weeks in the Tucson Sector.
Masters, one of five candidates currently running in the Republican primary to represent the 8th Congressional District, previously told NW Valley Times that, if elected, he would "work with President Trump" to "start deporting illegal aliens by the millions in America."
Arizona's 8th Congressional District is currently represented by U.S. Rep. Debbie Lesko (R), who announced last year that she will be retiring at the end of the current term.
Masters announced last month that his campaign has raised $1.3 million to date.
He ran for U.S. Senate in 2022, losing to incumbent U.S. Sen. Mark Kelly (D) by a vote of 51.4% to 46.5%. Kelly reportedly outspent Masters by $66 million in that race.
After growing up and attending high school in Tucson, Masters graduated from Stanford University and received his J.D. from Stanford Law School. He then co-founded legal research startup Judicata.
He is co-author of the bestselling business book, “Zero to One: Notes on a Startup” with Peter Thiel, and served as president of the Thiel Foundation. Masters married his wife, Catherine, in 2012 and they have three sons.
