Grand Canyon University hosted a Celebrity Sweat Slam Jam basketball game at the Global Credit Union Arena, featuring a lineup of notable celebrities including sports stars and social media personalities. Among the attendees were Arizona Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray, Pro Football Hall of Fame wide receiver Terrell Owens, and 2011 Heisman Trophy winner Robert Griffin III.

The event drew significant excitement from the students, with junior Arikka Graves expressing her enthusiasm by exclaiming, "It’s crazy," and adding, “I just think having an event like this on campus is very cool.”

Kyler Murray, who served as an honorary coach for Team RGIII, shared his thoughts on the experience, stating, “It feels good to just be part of the community and watch these guys have fun.” Murray also praised the GCU campus atmosphere, declaring, “It’s the GOAT, the GOAT,” and expressing his interest in playing basketball there, saying, “I’d love to play basketball here.”

Despite the lively environment, Murray humorously declined the idea of joining in on the game, stating, “Probably not.” The Celebrity Sweat Slam Jam basketball game provided GCU students with a unique opportunity to interact with and watch renowned athletes in action, as freshman Brayden Stenner remarked, “There are super huge names here."

The event, presented by Talking Stick Resort and Casino, aimed to show support for military, veterans, and first responders, with the GCU community rallying around the cause. The game not only entertained the attendees but also highlighted the university's spirit and camaraderie.

The Celebrity Sweat Slam Jam basketball game featured memorable moments, including Robert Griffin III showcasing his shooting skills by sinking a 3-point shot early in the game. Social media sensation Josh Richards also left an impression with his unorthodox shot that found its way into the net, delighting the spectators.

Former NFL player Spice Adams added a touch of humor to the game with his entertaining dance moves on the court, while the GCU Dance team and Thundering Herd Pep Band contributed to the vibrant atmosphere of the event.

Overall, the Celebrity basketball game at Grand Canyon University proved to be a slam dunk success, providing students with an unforgettable experience and the chance to interact with their sports idols in a lively and supportive setting.
