WASHINGTON, D.C.—U.S. Congresswoman Debbie Lesko (AZ-08) issued a statement regarding the verdict from a New York City jury against former President Donald J. Trump.

“I am outraged over this unjust, un-American, and unconstitutional verdict against President Donald J. Trump. This case should never have gone to trial, yet a left-wing prosecutor and judge took it upon themselves to trample our Constitution and American system of justice. Despite this outcome, I believe that an appeals court will restore order to this partisan trial court that has displayed a reckless abandon for the law and the rights of the accused," Lesko stated.

“Let us remember this prosecution is part of a pattern that began against President Trump before he first stepped into the White House. As someone who defended President Trump against the repeated attempts to undermine his presidency, including the impeachment of 2019, I am again filled with grief for our nation. Our sacred justice system is being ransacked by radicals seeking to destroy America’s values and history for their own political gain."

Lesko further expressed her concerns about the implications of the verdict: “I fear that, with this result and the avalanche of politically motivated cases against President Trump, the United States is at a breaking point – both in our political and legal systems. I will continue to pray for our nation and all our leaders in the days and months ahead.”
