The City of Peoria is currently gathering data and evaluating the potential establishment of a Peoria Airpark. A preliminary economic impact assessment suggests that the airpark could generate $1 billion in annual economic impact, create nearly 8,000 jobs, and contribute over $60 million annually in state and local taxes.
This evaluation process spans multiple years and includes various studies that are either completed, planned, or ongoing. To ensure transparency and keep the public informed, the city will host an Airpark Webinar on Thursday, June 27, 2024, at 6:30 p.m.
Assistant City Manager Rick Buss, Deputy City Manager Mike Faust, and Matt Quick from Coffman Associates will be present to answer follow-up questions regarding the feasibility study. They will also discuss the project background on the site selection study being conducted by Coffman Associates, which is expected to be completed by the end of 2024.
Residents are encouraged to submit questions in advance using the Ask a Question form. Questions can be submitted until 5 p.m., Monday, June 24. This allows staff adequate time to prepare for the presentation later that week.
An additional Q&A session is planned for late August to delve into why an Airpark is being considered in Peoria. This session will include a video discussion on economic impacts. The public will again have an opportunity to submit questions in advance; specific details will be released once finalized.
