U.S. Congressional candidate Blake Masters (R-AZ-8) said border security is the most important issue in the country and that, if elected, he’ll be a “relentless warrior” for securing the border.
“When I get to Congress, I'm just going to be a relentless warrior for border security,” Masters said on the Grand Canyon Times Podcast. “We need to finish the wall.”
“We need to actually empower our border patrol,” said Masters. “I think we need to deport millions of illegal aliens, people who snuck in here, broke in illegally and have no right to be here.”
One of six candidates running in the Republican Primary for Arizona’s 8th Congressional District, Masters was endorsed by former President Donald Trump in Masters’ 2022 race for U.S. Senate.
“President Trump is a strong border president, he knew this, and he knew in my primary, I was by far the strongest candidate on the border,” said Masters.
The 8th Congressional District seat will be left vacant with the retirement of incumbent U.S. Rep. Debbie Lesko (R).
Also running in the primary are State Sen. Anthony Kern, Arizona House Speaker Ben Toma, former U.S. Rep. Trent Franks, former Attorney General candidate Abe Hamadeh, and Patrick Brody.
Arizona's 8th Congressional District includes the western suburbs of Phoenix. The district covers the majority of Peoria and Glendale, as well as Sun City, Sun City West, El Mirage, and Youngtown. Portions of Surprise, New River, and Anthem are also included within the district.
After growing up and attending high school in Tucson, Masters graduated from Stanford University and received his J.D. from Stanford Law School. He then co-founded legal research startup Judicata.
He is co-author of the bestselling business book, “Zero to One: Notes on a Startup” with Peter Thiel, and served as president of the Thiel Foundation. Masters married his wife, Catherine, in 2012 and they have four sons.
