Moms for Liberty has endorsed Janelle Bowles in her race for a seat on the Peoria Unified School District (PUSD) Governing Board. Early voting is currently underway for the November 5 general election.
On her campaign website, Bowles reveals the five key components of her platform: advocating for parental rights in education, promoting and fostering academic excellence, supporting teachers and building trust between teachers and parents, ensuring that special-needs students receive necessary services, and cultivating transparent communication and relationships between the Governing Board, district, and PUSD community.
Bowles has worked in the educational field for 19 years, including nine years with PUSD, where she "[worked] with numerous grade K-12 students, parents, teachers, administrators, and special education teams both within and outside of the schools." She has also volunteered with PUSD for 11 years in several capacities.
Bowles holds bachelor's degrees in psychology and human services as well as a degree in early childhood education. She has been a Peoria resident for 22 years, and she and her husband have two children, three grandchildren, and a foster child.
Per the Peoria Unified School District Governing Board's website, the Board comprises five members. Terms are four years and staggered, with elections being held every two years.
Moms for Liberty is a parental-rights-in-education advocacy group founded by Tiffany Justice and Tina Descovich, two former school board members. According to their website, "Moms for Liberty is dedicated to fighting for the survival of America by unifying, educating and empowering parents to defend their parental rights at all levels of government."
