Moms for Liberty has endorsed Stephen Skvara in his race for a seat on the Dysart Unified School District (Dysart USD) Governing Board. Early voting began on October 9 and extends through November 1 for the November 5 general election.
According to his statement on his Arizona Voters Guide page, a top priority for Skvara is ensuring that every child in Dysart USD has access to a high-quality education. "The Dysart system has far too many differences between elementary schools. This fails to give all students a equal chance on the building blocks of a foundational education," Skvara said.
"I believe a quality education does not stop when the student leaves for the school day," said Skvara. "Making sure parents are involved with their child’s curriculum ensures they know what their child is learning and helps them engage with the school staff at a better level."
He also advocates for fiscal responsibility, drawing attention to problems with the status quo, and full transparency on behalf of both Dysart USD and the public.
Skvara currently serves as First Vice Chair of the Republican Committee of Arizona Legislative District 29.
He holds a bachelor's degree in computer information systems and master's degrees in human resource management and leadership and management. For the past ten years, he has worked in information technology. An Indiana native, he has lived in Arizona since 2006. He and his wife, a retired Air Force veteran, have two children, both of whom attend school in Dysart USD.
Per the Dysart Unified School District Governing Board's website, the Board comprises five members. Terms are four years and staggered so that two or three members are elected in alternate election years.
Moms for Liberty is a parental-rights-in-education advocacy group founded by Tiffany Justice and Tina Descovich, two former school board members. According to their website, "Moms for Liberty is dedicated to fighting for the survival of America by unifying, educating and empowering parents to defend their parental rights at all levels of government."
