Thunderbird High honors individuals with Achievement Above All awards

The Thunderbird High School community recently celebrated the recipients of the Achievement Above All awards, which recognize exceptional contributions in various areas such as teaching, student excellence, and volunteerism. The awards ceremony took place on November 6.

Mrs. Kelly Ahern was honored as the Teacher Recipient for her work in the Sensory Integration Program for students with Autism at Thunderbird High School. Dr. Tiffany Burkett-Crist described her as "not just a phenomenal teacher, but a wonderful human being." Jennifer Perry from Independence High School also praised her collaborative spirit. Mrs. Ahern is actively involved in volunteering efforts beyond her teaching responsibilities.

Katherine "Beezer" Geer received recognition as the Student Recipient. Known for her academic dedication and positive energy, she was commended by Shannon Miller and Melanie Allen for being an outstanding student and role model.

The Navy Junior ROTC (NJROTC) was awarded as the Student Group Recipient under Commander Schmidt and Senior Chief Justin Beck's leadership. Assistant Principal Dawn Bork highlighted their strong character and commitment to community service.

Ms. Angela Antunez, who joined Thunderbird High School in 2020 as the Student Lead Coordinator, was recognized as the Support Staff Recipient. Her colleagues appreciate her professionalism and dedication to supporting students.

John and Catherine Martin were acknowledged as Volunteer Recipients for their extensive support over five years within the Thunderbird parent community. Band Director Andrew Torbert noted them among "the most supportive parent volunteers" he has encountered.

These honorees exemplify dedication, passion, and excellence within the Thunderbird High School community.
