On November 6, Washington High School honored individuals and groups who have shown excellence and dedication to their school community. The Achievement Above All awards are the highest honors given by the GUHSD Governing Board, recognizing contributions in teaching, student excellence, student organizations, support staff, and volunteerism.

The teacher recipient this year is Mrs. Jacquie Dudo. She has spent 13 years shaping future educators in Washington’s Early Childhood Education program. A graduate of Moon Valley High School with a Bachelor's degree in Family and Human Development from ASU and a Master's in Early Childhood Education, she oversees Washington’s preschool and teaches early childhood education classes. Her innovative methods have earned her recognition, including the FCCLA Spirit of Advising Award.

John Delgado was named the student recipient. He maintains a 3.9 GPA while participating in band, theater, NHS, and Japanese Club. Despite personal challenges such as losing his mother and recovering from an accident, John has been praised for his dedication and kindness. "John embodies everything a successful student should be—dedicated, driven, compassionate, and gracious," said AP U.S. History teacher Mr. Roberts.

The Law and Criminal Justice Club received recognition as the student group recipient. Led by President Ibrahim Shafi and Communications Officer Marco Delgado under sponsor Mr. Rick Smith's guidance, this club provides hands-on experiences in law enforcement fields through various activities.

Ms. Emily Moyle was recognized as the support staff recipient for her role since 2015 at Washington High School. Currently an instructional assistant in special education and involved in coaching roles on campus, she is admired for her dedication to students' success.

Volunteer Erin Strong was honored for her contributions as PTO treasurer and site council representative at Washington High School. Her efforts include organizing fundraisers that benefit both students and staff directly.

This year's honorees reflect values that make Washington High School an exceptional place to learn and grow.
