The City of Glendale has announced the appointment of Trent Dutry as the new Economic Development Deputy Director. With decades of experience in project and community management, Dutry will lead several divisions aimed at increasing citizen engagement through city events and arts and culture.
In his new role, Dutry will oversee the Special Events Division, the Arts and Culture Division, and redevelopment efforts such as Downtown Development. His responsibilities include directing significant city events like Glendale Glitters, Live! music festival, and Ballet Under the Stars. He will also manage permits for all events occurring throughout the city.
“Trent is a leader with a proven track record in community engagement and developing high-performing teams,” stated Glendale City Manager Kevin Phelps. “The city has incredible momentum in creating programming and hosting events that drive interest throughout Glendale, and with Trent onboard, the opportunities will continue to grow.”
Dutry brings nearly 30 years of experience from the sports and entertainment industry with the Phoenix Suns, where he managed operations, vendor negotiations, and employee development. Most recently, he worked with Enchant Christmas overseeing large-scale event production in Phoenix. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business from DeVry Institute.
“I am excited to join the Glendale Economic Development team to lead these two divisions. Together, we will build on Glendale's rich legacy, fostering creativity, innovation and community engagement,” said Dutry. “My goal is to elevate the city’s reputation as a vibrant hub where creativity thrives and every experience leaves a lasting impact.”
Dutry began his role on December 10.
