The City of Peoria is moving into its second phase of the city’s COVID-19 Recovery Plan, according to a city press release.
The city has been in the first phase of the recovery plan since May 18, which calls for stringent sanitation, physical distancing and face masks, according to a press release. Phase Two will ease some of the restrictions.
“As mayor, the wellbeing of Peoria residents has been at the forefront of my thoughts and actions as I have been monitoring the COVID-19 guidelines put forward by top public health officials,” Mayor Cathy Carlat said in the press release. “I am pleased to see the downward trajectory in cases and the important milestones we’ve surpassed, allowing us to safely move into Phase Two. I am grateful to all Peoria residents for exercising caution as we open up these significant community amenities.”
Amenities will also start opening, which includes Ramada rentals, field reservations, Dial-a-Ride shared rides, organized sports, the Rio Vista Recreation Center, the city libraries, the Peoria Community Center and school can begin in-person instruction.
“Until Phase Three, all city facilities and programs will operate under moderate physical distancing protocols and facial masks will still be required,” the city said in the press release. "The City of Peoria will be evaluating and gradually implementing fall programming and events while continuing to monitor health trends and ADHS data. Phase Three implementation and long-term programming will depend on subsequent announcements from Maricopa County Public Health Department (MCPHD), ADHS and Gov. Doug Ducey as well as trending COVID-19 data.”
