City of Surprise Parks & Recreation Department issued the following announcement on July 15.
The City of Surprise Parks & Recreation Department is excited to expand its Esports Program to include Esports “Weekly’s.” The Department will also be hosting yet another Fortnite Tournament!
Esports Weekly’s
The featured game is ‘Super Smash Bros.’ for the Nintendo Switch!
Esports Weekly’s will operate like our traditional Youth Sports Leagues, with six weeks of hands-on gaming, instruction, competition and more! Each week will consist of one weekday online practice and coaching session, and one Saturday in-person event with our friends at Bravous Esports providing their expertise.
Players can sign up for Esports for $10 per-week, or commit to the whole series for $50 (a $10 savings!) All equipment is provided for in-person events, but players are encouraged to utilize their own controllers and gaming systems – especially for the weekday online sessions.
Dates include August 7th, 14th, 21st, 28th and September 11th and 18th.
Esports Tournament
Parks & Recreation is also hosting another Fortnite Tournament on July 30th! This tournament will allow for some friendly-competition with prizes rewarded to the top finishers.
It is an online-only tournament, therefore participants are required to have their own copy of the game, gaming console of preference, discord.com account and a stable internet connection.
Registration for both the Weekly’s and Tournament is available at https://bit.ly/3gClzDN.
Parent information for both events will be available through email in the time leading up to the start of both the tournament and the Weekly’s.
