Moms for Liberty has endorsed Denise Destiche in her race for a seat on the Dysart Unified School District (Dysart USD) Governing Board. Early voting began on October 9 and extends through November 1 for the November 5 general election.

Destiche's top priorities as a Dysart USD Governing Board candidate are academic excellence, fiscal responsibility, parental rights, and school safety, according to a Facebook post.

Destiche said she is running to be "a strong advocate for special education and committed to ensuring students in need of special education services receive what they need to succeed academically." She also favors maintaining smaller, more manageable classroom sizes in order to optimize students' ability to learn and thrive academically.

Destiche served in the U.S. Navy from 1985 to 1991, and as the daughter of a 30-year Navy vet, she is familiar with the unique challenges that children of military families face. She emphasized the importance of providing special support for these children in order to meet their needs as well as promote respect for the military.

Per the Dysart Unified School District Governing Board's website, the Board comprises five members. Terms are four years and staggered so that two or three members are elected in alternate election years.

Moms for Liberty is a parental-rights-in-education advocacy group founded by Tiffany Justice and Tina Descovich, two former school board members. According to their website, "Moms for Liberty is dedicated to fighting for the survival of America by unifying, educating and empowering parents to defend their parental rights at all levels of government."
