Passing of retired Lieutenant Jason Zimmerman | City of Glendale Police Department
It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of retired Lieutenant Jason Zimmerman.
Jason began his career by serving in the United States Army from 1997-2000. He was then hired by the Glendale Police Department on September 25, 2000. He held many positions in his career to include Field Training Officer, Patrol Sergeant, Violent Crimes Sergeant, Homicide Sergeant, Patrol Lieutenant, Special Victims Unit Lieutenant, and Sector Lieutenant.
In 2016, Jason was diagnosed with colon cancer. While undergoing treatment, Jason continued working in the role of Lieutenant until he retired in 2019. His 19 years of selfless service were dedicated to protecting and improving the lives of the citizens of Glendale. He was held in high regards throughout his successful career and, more significantly, was an incredible mentor and friend.
As many will tell you, he remained incredibly positive and consistently grateful throughout his diagnosis, living by the motto of “Be Kind.”
Our department is filled with sadness today as we grieve the loss of our brother and friend. We ask that you keep Jason’s wife, son, and family in your thoughts and prayers as they navigate through this difficult time.
