In response to a recent controversy, Arizona State Senator Anthony Kern expressed his disapproval on Twitter towards Governor Katie Hobbs. Kern emphasized the need for accountability regarding Hobbs' recent signings of executive orders last month pertaining to the "LGBTQ+" community and abortion.

"Agree! Hobbs is NOT above accountability. #Legislature," Kern tweeted.

Hobbs' signing of these bills created dissatisfaction among Republicans, while Democratic legislators applauded the decision. Arizona Senator Jake Hoffman, along with his fellow Republicans, is insisting on a meeting with the Governor's office over the situation, according to AZ Free News.

"Arizona Republicans are resolved to exercise the full authority afforded to us by the Constitution in order to hold Hobbs accountable," tweeted the Arizona Freedom Caucus. "We will continue to act as a check and balance in order to maintain sanity and stability in our state."

The executive orders signed by Hobbs consist of two "LGTBQ+" bills. One of these bills aims to guarantee "coverage of medically-necessary gender-affirming surgery under the state employee health care plan". The other bill aims to prohibit "state agencies from funding, promoting, or supporting conversion therapy for LGBTQ+ individuals" in Arizona. In addition, an executive order related to abortion seeks to "centralize all abortion-related prosecutions under the Attorney General's jurisdiction, ensuring consistent application of the law across counties and preserving access to legal abortions", according AZ Free News.

"The people of Arizona are best served when our three branches of government follow the law, honor our Constitution, and refrain from partisan game playing," Hoffman told AZ Free News. "Instead of joining legislative Republicans in solving the real issues that impact the lives of struggling Arizona families like food prices, rent and housing affordability, and protecting the innocence of children, Katie Hobbs has chosen to abandon her oath of office with these politically-charged PR stunts in an attempt to pander to her far-Left base.”

"Today, I signed two Executive Orders restoring rights and protecting LGBTQ+ Arizonans," tweeted Hobbs on June 27. "I'm proud the State is leading by example on this issue, and we will continue working until Arizona is a place where every individual can participate equally in our economy and our workforce without fear of discrimination or exclusion."

"Instead of helping struggling AZ families plagued by inflation, the governor just issued an order for taxpayers to cover the cost of elective, sex reassignment surgeries," Arizona Senate President Warren Peterson said on Twitter. "This illegal, out of touch, unprecedented over reach did not receive proper JLBC review as required by law."
