Residents in Tucson and Oro Valley can participate in the City of Tucson's TreeCycle Program to recycle their Christmas trees. The program will be available from December 26, 2023, until January 15, 2024. TreeCycle sites have been set up throughout the area for convenient drop-off (City of Tucson).
By participating in the TreeCycle Program, residents are helping to contribute to a more sustainable future. It is important to remove all decorations, lights, stands, wire, and tinsel from the trees before dropping them off at the designated sites (City of Tucson).
To encourage carpooling and reduce air pollution, residents are also encouraged to bring their neighbor's tree along with their own. This will help to minimize the number of trips made to the TreeCycle sites (City of Tucson).
Once the trees have been collected, the City of Tucson will grind them and use the compost for various purposes. This ensures that the trees are being put to good use and not simply discarded (City of Tucson).
There are several TreeCycle sites available for drop-off, all of which are open during daylight hours, seven days a week. It is important to note that the City of Tucson will not collect Christmas trees from curbs and alleys. Additionally, other green waste cannot be accepted at the TreeCycle sites. For commercial tree lot overages, they can be taken to the Los Reales Landfill at the posted landfill rates (City of Tucson).
Residents who would like more information about the TreeCycle Program can visit the official website at www.tucsonaz.gov/Treecycle. If they have any questions, need to report an issue, or want to submit a suggestion, they can also reach out to the City of Tucson using the Constituent Contact Form (City of Tucson).
This holiday season, let's come together as a community and make a positive impact on the environment by participating in the TreeCycle Program. By recycling our Christmas trees, we can contribute to a more sustainable future for Tucson and Oro Valley (City of Tucson).
