Students at Grand Canyon University recently showcased their projects and research at the Canyon Undergraduate Research Symposium. The symposium featured a variety of presentations, including one by Ivy Angle and Mica Paden who revealed the behind-the-scenes details of their production of "Mary Poppins." Angle explained the scenic concept behind their work, stating, "It takes a lane of people to paint layers of happiness."

Theatre students faced challenges working with limited space and equipment but managed to create a spectacular production. Paden mentioned, "Every time it was on, you could hear all the kids pointing, saying there is Mary, and she is flying." University Provost Dr. Randy Gibb praised the students' efforts, highlighting the tangible impact of their production.

Another group, Rachel Anderson and Blaze Hulderman, presented their research on "Academic Theology for the Layperson," aiming to provide a space for discussions on theological subjects. Anderson emphasized the importance of creating mutual ground for discussions, free from denominational affiliations. Hulderman added, "Our goal is to simply relate to all audiences."

GCU president Brian Mueller commended the students' presentations, noting that the projects encapsulated the future of higher education. The symposium attendees, including Abi Layne, Laken Friar, and Layla Garcia, were applauded for their impressive research on "Early Childhood Education Methods Immersion" and "Culture and Perfectionism."

Overall, the Canyon Undergraduate Research Symposium showcased the innovative and dedicated work of students across various disciplines. The event not only highlighted their research but also emphasized the importance of collaboration and creativity in academic endeavors.
