In the April issue of GCU Magazine, GCU President Brian Mueller highlighted the university's commitment to serving vulnerable populations. Mueller stated, "Ultimately, what it comes down to is, what should be the defining characteristics of a Christian university? And this should be one of the defining characteristics of a Christian university."

The university has actively engaged with various groups, including youth in foster care, children with autism, and adults with neurodiversities. GCU's involvement with these communities demonstrates its dedication to making a positive impact beyond the campus walls.

The university's efforts have not gone unnoticed, with initiatives like the partnership with Victory Autism Academy showcasing the meaningful work being done. Junior elementary/special education major Madison Sedlacek's work with a student at the academy exemplifies GCU's hands-on approach to serving those in need.

GCU's commitment to serving vulnerable populations is reflected in its various campus locations dedicated to student life and support, including Thunderground, Lope Shop, and the Learning Lounge. These spaces provide resources and opportunities for students to engage with the community and make a difference.

As GCU continues to prioritize service and outreach, its impact on the lives of vulnerable populations remains a cornerstone of the university's mission. President Mueller's words underscore the importance of this commitment as a defining characteristic of GCU as a Christian university.
