Trades Pathway Celebration Marks a 'Life-Changing' Moment

Ezekiel Nuñez, one of the participants in Grand Canyon University's Pre-Apprenticeship for Electricians Pathway, expressed his relief and excitement about the future, stating, “It’s going to be nice to start and get a 401K and invest in myself.”

During the Night of Celebration at Global Credit Union Arena, Mickey Nuñez, a program manager, highlighted the readiness of industry partners to hire the program graduates, emphasizing, “Our industry partners, a lot of them are ready to hire today.”

Reflecting on the impact of the program, Mike Greenawalt, CEO of Rosendin Electric, commended the graduates, stating, “We are getting productive and safe men and women instead of people who couldn’t spell electrician.”

Chris Perez, another participant in the program, shared his perspective on the life-changing opportunity, expressing, “This is my opportunity to get in the door and change my life.”

Dr. Randy Gibb, GCU's Provost, acknowledged the significant economic impact of the program participants, stating, “Just think of the economic impact you all are going to be making, it’s significant.”

Luiz Reyes, a graduate of the CNC pathway, encouraged his fellow learners to seize opportunities, emphasizing, “Never underestimate yourself, and when those opportune moments come, you have to be willing to push yourself.”

Josephine Osorio, who completed the Pre-Apprenticeship for Electricians Pathway, shared her journey of self-discovery through the program, stating, “It took me 15 years after I graduated from high school to finally find something that fits me as a person.”

Edward Cota from the Arizona Department of Education praised the program, describing it as life-changing and emphasizing the impact it has on individuals and families.

Thomas Mitchell, who transitioned from electrical engineering to a more hands-on role, expressed his excitement about the program, saying, “When I heard of this opportunity, I jumped on it. I love electricity.”

The celebration at Grand Canyon University highlighted the success and transformation experienced by the graduates, marking a significant moment in their lives and careers in the trades industry.
