U.S. Congressional candidate Blake Masters (R-AZ-8) said the guilty verdict given to former President Donald Trump is "a lawless travesty of justice."

"This is a lawless travesty of justice," Masters said. "President Trump will win on appeal. And when he wins big in November, the task ahead is to repair our broken Soviet-style justice system."

Former President Donald Trump was found guilty on 34 felony charges on May 30, after the jury deliberated for nine hours. A sentencing date was set for July 11.

The jury, which consisted of twelve New Yorkers, was presided over by Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg, who thanked the jury for their work and decision.

Trump confirmed that he would be fighting the charges in a press conference on May 31, saying "the real verdict is going to be November 5 by the people, and they know what happened here and everybody knows what happened here."

Blake is running to represent Arizona’s 8th Congressional District. He was previously endorsed by President Donald Trump in his 2022 race for U.S. Senate. Blake grew up and attended high school in Arizona before graduating from Stanford University and Stanford Law School. He and his wife, Catherine, have four sons.
