State Sen. Janae Shamp said former President Donald Trump's performance in the presidential debate on June 27 was proof that he "will be the 47th POTUS" over President Joe Biden.

"President Trump is the CIC we need to lead our Nation back from the crisis created by the Biden Administration,” Shamp told NW Valley Times. “Crisis levels of inflation, housing insecurities and the invasion at our border are crippling every day Americans. The debate showed why President Trump will be the 47th POTUS."

The Presidential debate on June 27 was the first time a campaign debate had be held between a former president and current president. A CNN poll from after the debate reported 67% of viewers considered Trump to be the winner. The same poll from after the 2020 debate between Trump and Biden had 39% of viewers viewing Trump as the winner.

A June poll from Gallup showed 67% of voters are concerned about 81-year-old Biden's age, while only 37% of voters are concerned about Trump, who is 78. The poll also found that 49% of U.S. adults across all political parties said they agree with Trump's stance on important issues, while 37% said they agree with Biden's stance on key issues.

Shamp represents Legislative District 29 in Arizona. She was elected to the state senate in 2023.

Shamp earned her Bachelor’s in Molecular Biosciences & Biotechnology from Arizona State University and her Bachelor’s in Nursing from Grand Canyon University. She is a Registered Nurse in the state of Arizona. She lives in Surprise, Arizona with her husband.
