Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. (I) suspended his campaign for U.S. President and endorsed former President Donald Trump (R) at a rally this afternoon held at the Desert Diamond Arena in Glendale, Ariz.

“Don’t you want a President who’s going to get us out of wars and rebuild the middle class in this country,” said Kennedy in remarks at a rally in Glendale, Ariz. endorsing the former president. “He (Trump) told me that he wanted to end censorship because the whole basis of American democracy is the free flow of information. “

“We know that a government that can silence its opponents has a license for any atrocity,” said Kennedy. “Don’t you want a President who’s going to protect America’s freedoms and protect us against totalitarianism?”

RFK Jr. said his decision to suspend his campaign came because internal poll results showed his participation in the race hurting Trump's likelihood of being elected, benefitting Democrat candidate Kamala Harris, AP News reported.

At the rally on Friday, RFK Jr. joined Trump on stage when Trump announced that he would create a commission on assassination attempts if he were to be elected, and he would do so in honor of Sen. Robert F. Kennedy Sr., RFK's father, and his uncle President John F. Kennedy. Both men were assassinated. Kennedy acknowledged the issues that he and Trump agreed on, including healthy food for Americans and addressing the chronic disease epidemic.

RFK Jr. is the son of former U.S. Attorney General and U.S. Sen. Robert F. Kennedy, and the nephew of the U.S. President John F. Kennedy and U.S. Sen. Ted Kennedy. He attended Harvard University and received his Juris Doctor degree from the University of Virginia School of Law. RFK has campaigned on an anti-vaccine platform since 2005.

Donald Trump is the Republican nominee for the upcoming President election. He previously served as the 45th President of the United State, but lost to Joe Biden in his reelection campaign in 2020. Trump and his Vice President nominee U.S. Sen. J.D. Vance (R-Ohio) will face Democrat nominee Vice President Kamala Harris (D) and her running mate Governor Tim Walz (D-Minn) on November 5.
