Arizona State Rep. Debbie Lesko recently said that “families and entire communities are in mourning because VP Harris failed to do her job as border czar.” Rep. Lesko’s comments highlight growing frustrations over the Biden administration's handling of border security amid rising illegal crossings and violent incidents involving immigrants.
“We’ve been hearing stories like this for the past 3.5 years from families all over the country,” Rep. Lesko wrote in a Sept. 10 social media post on X. “Families and entire communities are in mourning because VP Harris failed to do her job as border czar.”
According to the Washington Examiner, 20-year-old Kayla Hamilton was raped and murdered by MS-13 gang member Walter Javier Martinez in July 2022. Her mother, Tammy Nobles, is calling for stronger immigration controls to prevent such tragedies and is set to testify before Congress about the “Biden-Harris Border Crisis.” Martinez Martinez, who entered the U.S. illegally and was later linked to multiple violent crimes, had been inadequately monitored by federal and state systems. On Aug. 22, Martinez pleaded guilty and was sentenced to 70 years of imprisonment.
The Grand Canyon Times reported that Restoration PAC has launched a new ad, titled ‘CZAR,’ criticizing Vice President Kamala Harris for her handling of the U.S. southern border. The ad, airing nationally and in key Arizona markets, accuses Harris of being a “complete failure” in her role overseeing border security. It features clips, including one where Harris deflects a question about visiting the border and another where she claims the border is secure.
Following the release of a Restoration PAC ad, Steve Cortes, founder of the League of American Workers (LAW), sharply criticized Vice President Kamala Harris for her performance as “Border Czar.” Cortes condemned Harris for her “miserable” handling of border issues, citing violent crimes committed by illegal immigrants as a direct consequence of her mismanagement.
Since Harris was appointed to address migration issues in March 2021, illegal crossings, particularly in Arizona, have worsened, with over 406,000 encounters reported in the Tucson Sector alone for fiscal year 2024.
