Judge Nicholas C. DiPiazza has been reappointed by the Glendale City Council, allowing him to continue his role as Presiding Judge of the Glendale City Court. His reappointment follows a unanimous vote by the council in June and marks another chapter in a legal career spanning over 40 years, coupled with significant military service.

DiPiazza's tenure as Presiding Judge began in 2020, following his initial involvement with Glendale as deputy city attorney in 2005. During this time, he managed the civil litigation division and served as general counsel to various city departments.

Mayor Jerry Weiers expressed satisfaction with DiPiazza’s ongoing service: “We are proud to have Judge DiPiazza continue providing exceptional service and ensuring justice for all our residents, while also advancing technology and fostering the best courthouse employees in Glendale.”

The judge has overseen major renovations at Glendale City Court, enhancing services for residents and improving functionality for staff. These updates aim to extend the life of the courthouse while being mindful of taxpayer funds.

DiPiazza commented on his reappointment: “I am excited and humbled by it... We want to continue with expanding our use of technology to reach more people and to reach them more conveniently; continue to work at improving our customer service.”

His efforts during the COVID-19 pandemic included enhancing court technology and introducing virtual proceedings. Additionally, he established a Veteran’s Court for misdemeanor charges involving former military personnel. This initiative addresses issues such as PTSD and TBI among veterans, expanding its reach across five other West Valley cities.

DiPiazza's career began in Brooklyn as a prosecutor before practicing law privately. He later joined Arizona’s Governor’s Office of Homeland Security before moving to Glendale. A Fordham University Law School graduate, he continues to serve Glendale without resting on past achievements.

The Glendale City Court is part of Arizona's Judicial System, handling criminal misdemeanors, city code violations, juvenile offenses, protective orders, and search warrants within Glendale.
