Sunnyslope High honors exceptional contributors with Achievement Above All awards

Sunnyslope High School recognized the outstanding contributions of its community members during the Achievement Above All awards on November 6. This annual event, organized by the Governing Board, honors excellence in teaching, support, student achievement, student groups, and volunteerism.

Mr. Michael Sidebottom was honored as the Teacher Recipient. An alumnus of Thunderbird High School, Mr. Sidebottom joined Sunnyslope in 2020 and has since been a driving force in special education and Unified Sports coaching. His colleagues and students commend his ability to inspire and support them.

Manny Jacobs received recognition as the Student Recipient for his academic and athletic accomplishments. Ranking among the top in his class of nearly 600 students, Manny achieved perfect scores on multiple AP exams and the ACT. He also leads the varsity cross-country team to state-level success.

The DECA chapter at Sunnyslope was acknowledged as an exemplary Student Group under sponsor Jill Martinez's guidance. The group is known for managing Victor’s Place student store and organizing events like the Merry Marketplace holiday bazaar while achieving state and national accolades.

Ms. Shelby Ferrari was named Support Staff Recipient for her role as bookstore manager after starting as a receptionist at Sunnyslope. Her professionalism and innovative approach have significantly improved the school's environment.

Wayne and Betsy Pulver were honored as Volunteer Recipients for their nearly two decades of support to Sunnyslope High School's sports programs through fundraising efforts and facility maintenance.

These honorees exemplify dedication to Sunnyslope High School's community spirit through their various roles.
