Des Wadsworth, Lead Pastor of Grace Community Church, delivered a message at Grand Canyon University Chapel emphasizing resilience and faith. Speaking at the Global Credit Union Arena, Wadsworth shared personal experiences from late 2024 that influenced his approach to adversity.

He recounted a divine reminder: “And the Lord said, ‘Des, I’m going to remind you this is who you are. You’ve encountered storms,’” urging students not to flee from challenges but to confront them with strength akin to a bison. He advised, “Seek Him in the storm, the darkness. Don’t see a way out. Seek a way through.”

Wadsworth highlighted the bison's instinct to face storms head-on as an analogy for enduring life's difficulties. He encouraged students to embrace this mindset: “Don’t back away. Don’t get complacent. The storms are going to come.”

Referencing Matthew 7:7-8 from the Sermon on the Mount, he underscored the importance of asking, seeking, and knocking as acts of faith. He shared Psalm 27:4 as his guiding verse for 2025, focusing on dwelling in God's presence.

Addressing the audience, Wadsworth posed a reflective question about their desires from God for impactful transformation during the semester. He urged them to concentrate on one significant request.

He outlined five triads—ask, seek, knock; head, heart, hands; way, truth, life; faith, hope, love; Father, Son, Holy Spirit—to illustrate interconnected spiritual principles.

Wadsworth emphasized God's kindness and unconditional love while warning against distractions that lead away from spiritual fulfillment. He asserted that true faith involves believing God rather than merely believing in Him.

In conclusion, Wadsworth called for decisive action aligned with divine guidance despite potential resistance: “They are going to resist... Don’t get complacent. Be a bison.”

The next Chapel speaker will be Tim Birdwell from Phoenix Bible Church on February 3rd at Global Credit Union Arena.
