City of Surprise issued the following announcement on March 31

Valley Metro has released the following information:

Valley Metro is adjusting the Express and RAPID commuter bus service schedules to operate fewer trips each weekday morning and evening. This is a proactive step to maintain local bus route service for those who fully rely on public transit for critical trips.

“Public transit continues to serve as a lifeline for essential workers in the healthcare, government and social service sectors,” said Scott Smith, Valley Metro CEO. “We are reallocating our skilled workforce of operators, supervisors and maintenance workers to focus on our local bus routes at this time.” Valley Metro has experienced less demand for commuter trips and encourages that only necessary trips be taken to ensure that the U.S. Center for Disease Control’s guidelines, such as 6-foot distancing, are followed.

In summary, until further notice:

  • Express and RAPID commuter bus schedules will be reduced effective April 6.
  • Local bus, circulators and light rail continue to operate on regular schedules; service is being closely monitored and could adjust based on resources.
The following will be the Route 571-Surprise Express schedule beginning April 6. Time points with * symbol are estimated and should not be used to coordinate transfers.
