City of Surprise issued the following announcement on April 10

The city of Surprise is proud of the community’s efforts to practice safe physical distancing and wanted to send a reminder about city public parks use over this holiday weekend.

Though our public parks will be open, they will be limited to open space areas only such as walking paths and non-amenity areas.

The following public park amenities are currently closed: playgrounds, water fountains, basketball courts, pickleball courts, dog parks, skate park, splash pads, restrooms, and volleyball courts. Ramada and field reservations are not being accepted at this time.

While we encourage getting out to stretch your legs and enjoy the sun, we encourage you to follow the CDC guidelines for physical distancing. To practice physical distancing:

  • Stay at least 6 feet from other people
  • Do not gather in groups
  • Stay out of crowded places and avoid mass gatherings
If you are planning a visit to one of our public parks, if possible, please bring hand sanitizer, disinfectant wipes, and consider the CDC’s guidance on cloth face coverings: https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/prevent-getting-sick/diy-cloth-face-coverings.html.

Despite the circumstances we currently face, the city still strives to maintain the high level of customer service and community services that you have come to expect, while doing our best to flatten the curve and keep our community safe. Please check out our Parks and Recreation Facebook page for some alternative ways we are engaging with the community during this time.
